Tsunami Glass Shower Head Side Neck Dome Dab Rig 8″
The shower head side neck dab rig is a dual-purpose borosilicate glass piece that handles both concentrates and dry herbs through a single shower-head percolator. Tsunami Glass built this 8″ shower head side neck dab rig around a side neck — the mouthpiece angles off to the left, leaving your line of sight clear and keeping the rig stable on a table while you load up. If you want to buy a daily-driver rig without overpaying for flash, this is where most of our customers land.
Why the side neck makes a difference
A side-neck rig puts the mouthpiece at roughly a 45-degree angle instead of straight up, which changes how you use it completely. You can keep the rig planted on a table while you torch the nail — no awkward one-handed balancing act, no hot glass near your face. For dabbing, that's the practical win: your hands are free, the piece is stable, and the flared mouthpiece meets your lips at a natural angle.
The shower-head percolator inside the chamber does the heavy lifting on diffusion. Vapour gets broken into 20+ small bubbles as it passes through the slits, which pulls more heat out of the smoke before it hits your lungs. Cooler hit, smoother draw, and — because this is 3mm polished borosilicate rather than the 2mm thin stuff — it handles repeated heat cycles from a 1,300°C butane torch without stress-cracking.
At 8 inches (about 20 cm), it's short enough to travel with but tall enough to give the smoke room to cool. The fixed downstem is one less thing to lose or break, and the stable foot means it won't tip when you set it down mid-session. Tsunami Glass has been making these kinds of workhorse rigs for over 10 years, and this one shows it — nothing flashy, everything where it should be.
Which colour: Purple or Green?
Both variants are functionally identical — same 3mm glass thickness, same percolator, same 8-inch dimensions. The colour sits in the accents (mouthpiece ring, foot, perc detailing) while the main chamber stays clear so you can watch the diffusion.
| Variant | SKU | Best if… |
|---|---|---|
| Purple | HS2189 | You like a deeper, moodier accent that pairs well with darker dab stations |
| Green | HS2188 | You prefer a brighter, classic headshop look |

Complete your setup with a decent butane torch, a set of carb caps, and some isopropyl alcohol with cotton buds for cleaning. A silicone mat under the rig saves your tabletop from stray hot nail moments — we've seen enough scorched wood at the counter to recommend it every time.
Why you need this rig
The side neck design solves the main ergonomic problem of straight-tube dabbing in one change. If you've been dabbing off a tall straight tube, you already know the issue: every time you torch the nail, you're holding nearly a metre of glass at an angle with one hand and a torch with the other. One wobble and you're either burning your wrist or chipping a mouthpiece. The side neck sorts that out — rig sits on the table, you hover over it, torch in one hand, dabber in the other.
From our counter: the shower-head perc is the other reason this one keeps selling. Cheap rigs with a single-hole downstem give you harsh, rattling hits that punish your throat after 3 or 4 sessions. The multi-slit diffusion here spreads the vapour across a wider surface area of water, which matters more for dabs than for flower because concentrate vapour is denser and hotter at source.
Honest limitation: the 8-inch size is a compromise. Compared to a 14-inch recycler rig, cloud production is smaller. Compared to a 5-inch mini rig that disappears into a drawer, this is harder to stash. This sits in the middle — good for daily use at home, portable enough to get to a mate's place, not the extreme on either end.
How to use it
Setting up the rig takes about 2 minutes from cold glass to first dab. Follow these 6 steps in order.
- Fill the chamber with water until the shower-head percolator slits are submerged by about 1 cm — not so much that water reaches the mouthpiece when you pull.
- Seat the dome over the nail on the 14mm joint. Check the fit is flush.
- For concentrates: heat the nail with a butane torch for 30–45 seconds until it glows red, then let it cool for 20–40 seconds depending on the nail material (quartz cools faster than titanium).
- Apply your dab to the nail with a dabber while inhaling slowly through the side-neck mouthpiece.
- For dry herb: swap the dome and nail setup for a standard 14mm bowl (sold separately), pack loosely, light the corner, and draw.
- Exhale, then rinse the chamber with fresh water between sessions to keep flavour clean.
Keeping it clean
Cleaning takes about 5 minutes with isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt. Borosilicate glass is forgiving but not indestructible. Isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and coarse salt shaken through the chamber for 60 seconds pulls resin out of the percolator slits. Rinse thoroughly with warm water before the next use — nobody wants iso residue in their lungs. For the nail, a quick torch burn between dabs keeps it clear; deeper cleans with a cotton bud and iso every 5 or 6 sessions stop reclaim build-up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this rig with dry herb instead of concentrates?
Yes. Remove the dome and nail setup and fit a standard bowl to the joint (14mm — check fit before you order). The shower-head perc works just as well for flower as it does for dabs, giving you a cooler, smoother hit than a straight downstem.
How much water do I put in?
Fill until the shower-head perc slits are covered by about 1 cm of water. Too little and the perc won't diffuse properly; too much and you'll pull water into your mouth. Test-pull with no smoke first to check the level.
Is 3mm glass thick enough for daily dabbing?
Yes. 3mm polished borosilicate is the standard for mid-range rigs and handles the thermal stress of repeated torch use without issue. Thicker 5mm glass exists but adds weight and cost without meaningful durability gains at this size.
What's the difference between the Purple and Green variants?
Colour only. Both use identical 3mm borosilicate glass, the same shower-head percolator, the same 8-inch dimensions, and the same side-neck layout. Pick whichever accent you prefer — function is the same across both.
Does it come with a nail and dome?
Yes, the rig ships with the dome and nail needed for concentrate use. You'll still want to get a butane torch and a dabber separately, plus a carb cap if you're running a quartz banger setup for lower-temperature dabs.
How do I clean the shower-head percolator?
Fill the chamber with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a handful of coarse salt, cover the openings, and shake for 60 seconds. The salt scrubs resin out of the perc slits. Rinse with warm water until all iso is gone before your next session.
Where can I buy replacement nails for this rig?
Any 14mm male quartz or titanium nail will fit the joint. We stock quartz bangers and titanium nails as separate items — quartz gives better flavour, titanium lasts longer. Check the joint size (14mm) before you order.
