Water pipes & bongs

The Wish Ball Bong is a 7-inch borosilicate glass bong by Hemper, shaped and painted to look exactly like a Dragon Ball. It features an angled stem diffuser that cools and filters smoke before it reaches your lips, delivering noticeably smoother draws than a straight downstem. If you grew up watching Goku power up, this one's going to make you grin every time you reach for it.
Novelty bongs are everywhere, but most of them sacrifice function for looks. The Wish Ball Bong actually gets the balance right. The spherical chamber holds a decent volume of water — roughly what you'd expect from a 7-inch piece — and the angled stem diffuser breaks smoke into smaller bubbles before it hits the water. More bubbles means more surface area, which means cooler, less harsh draws. It's not a percolator-level filtration setup, but for a compact novelty piece, the difference is noticeable.
The borosilicate glass is the same stuff lab beakers are made from. It handles thermal shock far better than soda-lime glass, so you're not going to crack the bowl mid-session. The Dragon Ball detailing is painted onto the outside of the sphere — the orange colouring and star design are crisp and haven't shown wear on the units we've handled in the shop. It genuinely looks like someone plucked a four-star ball out of the anime and hollowed it out.
The honest limitation: at 7 inches, this is a compact piece. You're not going to get the massive rips you'd pull from a 14-inch beaker bong. It's a desk piece, a conversation starter, a gift for the anime fan in your life. For what it is, it hits well above its weight class. But if you want lung-busting volume, you'll want something taller.

Complete your setup with a proper grinder — the SLX Non-Stick Grinder keeps herbs fluffy and evenly ground, which matters more than people think for bowl packs. A set of pipe cleaners or a bottle of Formula 420 cleaner will keep the Wish Ball sparkling between sessions. Resin builds up fast in spherical chambers, so stay on top of it.
We've sold a lot of novelty bongs over the years. Most of them end up as shelf decorations after the first week because they're a pain to use, impossible to clean, or just fragile. The Wish Ball Bong avoids all three traps. The wide mouth opening makes it easy to pour water in and out. The angled downstem pulls out for cleaning. And borosilicate glass means you can run warm water through it without worrying about cracks — something you absolutely cannot do with cheaper glass pieces.
Compared to Hemper's other novelty pieces — the Pineapple Bong, the Cactus Jack — the Wish Ball sits in the sweet spot between "fun to look at" and "actually pleasant to smoke from." The spherical shape isn't just for aesthetics; it creates a natural water chamber that doesn't require precise fill levels. Pour water in until it covers the bottom of the downstem by about 1.5 cm and you're sorted. No fiddling, no guesswork.
One thing we'd flag: the painted exterior needs a bit of care. Don't soak the outside in isopropyl alcohol when cleaning — stick to warm water and a soft cloth for the exterior, and save the alcohol for the inside of the chamber and the downstem. That'll keep the Dragon Ball design looking sharp for the long haul.
We've had this piece on display in the shop and it stops people in their tracks — especially anyone who grew up on Dragon Ball Z. The weight feels right in the hand; it's solid glass, not thin or flimsy. The star detail catches light nicely and the orange is a proper warm tone, not the cheap neon you sometimes see on painted glass. It sits stable on a flat surface despite the spherical shape, thanks to a flat base section on the bottom. The draw resistance is moderate — not too tight, not too open. If you've been smoking from a basic straight tube and want something with a bit of personality without going full novelty-piece-that-never-gets-used, this is the one we'd point you towards.
One more thing: according to a pilot study published in PMC, reported adverse events among participants using inhalation methods included dry cough (7.8%), throat irritation (2.7%), and headache (5.4%), though these were described as rare and mild (PMC8186418, 2021). Water filtration through a bong like this helps cool the smoke before inhalation, which is one reason many people prefer bongs over dry pipes. It doesn't eliminate irritants entirely, but it takes the edge off.
It stands 7 inches (about 17.8 cm) tall. Compact enough for a desk or shelf, sturdy enough for regular use. Not a session piece for big groups, but solid for personal use.
Yes. Hemper uses 100% borosilicate glass, which is the same type used in laboratory equipment. It resists thermal shock and is significantly tougher than standard soda-lime glass. Still glass though — drop it on tiles and physics wins.
The angled downstem sits at a diagonal in the water, which forces smoke through the water at an angle and breaks it into smaller bubbles. More bubbles means more cooling and filtration. The result is a noticeably smoother draw compared to a straight downstem.
Clean the inside with isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt — shake it around, rinse with warm water. For the painted exterior, use only warm water and a soft cloth. Avoid soaking the outside in alcohol or abrasive cleaners, as this can fade the Dragon Ball artwork over time.
As long as the replacement bowl matches the joint size of the included downstem, yes. Measure the joint before ordering a replacement — most Hemper pieces use standard sizing, but always double-check rather than guessing.
Both, genuinely. The borosilicate glass and functional diffuser make it a proper daily driver. We've seen plenty of novelty bongs that are display-only — this isn't one of them. Clean it regularly and it'll hold up.
Fill it until the water covers the bottom of the angled downstem by about 1–1.5 cm. The spherical chamber is forgiving — you don't need to be precise. If you're getting splashback on your lips, pour a little out.
