Why These Unbleached Rolling Papers Deserve a Spot in Your Kit

Most rolling papers on the shelf look white and clean. That bright appearance comes from chlorine bleaching — a process that leaves chemical residues in the paper. When you light up, those residues burn alongside your herb, tainting the flavour and adding harshness to every draw. You might not notice it with one smoke, but over a session or a weekend, it builds up. Your throat knows, even if your eyes don't.

G-Rollz skip the bleach entirely. These papers are unbleached and made from natural fibres, which means they burn more consistently and produce noticeably less off-taste. The extra thin construction — and we mean properly thin, almost translucent when you hold one up to the light — keeps paper-to-herb ratio low. You taste what you packed, not what you rolled it in. That's the whole point.

The honest limitation? Extra thin papers are less forgiving if your rolling technique is rough. They can tear if you're heavy-handed or if your herb is too stemmy. If you're still learning, you might waste a couple before you get the feel. But at 50 leaves per pack, you've got room to practise. And once you nail it, you won't want to go back to thick, bleached papers — the difference in flavour is that obvious.

What's in the Pack — Every Piece Earns Its Place

G-Rollz have thought this through properly. Here's what you get when you crack open the Banksy packaging:

Item Quantity / Detail
Unbleached extra thin rolling papers 50 leaves
Filter tips 50 tips
Bamboo poker 1 (for packing and clearing)
Fold-out rolling tray Built into the packaging
Design Banksy-themed artwork
SKU HS1615

The bamboo poker is a small touch that makes a real difference. Use it to tamp down the herb once you've rolled, or to clear a clogged tip. Most people end up using a pen or a key — this is purpose-built and sits right in the pack. The fold-out tray is genuinely useful too: it gives you a flat, contained surface so you're not chasing crumbs across a table or, worse, your lap on a park bench. We've used it on a windy Amsterdam terrace and it does the job.

G-Rollz Unbleached Papers vs RAW Classic

RAW is the name most people know in unbleached papers, and for good reason — they've been the go-to for years. But G-Rollz are worth a serious look, especially at this price point. Here's how they stack up:

Feature G-Rollz Unbleached Extra Thin RAW Classic
Bleaching Chlorine-free, unbleached Chlorine-free, unbleached
Paper thickness Extra thin Standard (not their thinnest)
Tips included Yes — 50 tips in-pack Sold separately
Poker tool Bamboo poker included Not included
Rolling tray Pack folds out into tray No
Leaves per pack 50 32 (standard pack)

The G-Rollz pack gives you 50 leaves where RAW Classic gives you 32 in a standard booklet. Add in the tips, the poker, and the fold-out tray, and you're getting noticeably more for your money. RAW does make excellent papers — we sell them too — but if you want a complete, grab-and-go setup without buying tips and tools separately, G-Rollz is the smarter pick.

How to Roll with G-Rollz Unbleached Extra Thin Papers

  1. Open the pack and fold out the packaging to create your rolling surface. Place it on a flat, stable area.
  2. Take one filter tip and roll it into a tight cylinder — about the diameter of a pencil. This is your crutch.
  3. Pull a single paper from the booklet. The gummed edge should face you at the top, adhesive side up.
  4. Place the rolled tip at one end of the paper. Distribute your ground herb evenly along the crease, slightly more in the middle than the edges.
  5. Pinch the paper between your thumbs and index fingers. Roll back and forth gently to shape the herb into a cylinder. These papers are thin — don't force it.
  6. Tuck the non-gummed edge around the herb and tip, then roll upward. Lick the gum strip lightly and seal.
  7. Use the bamboo poker to gently pack the open end. Twist the top closed or leave it open — your call.
  8. Light evenly at the tip. The unbleached paper should burn slow and steady with minimal ash.

From Our Counter

We've had these on the shelf for a while now, and the feedback is consistent: people buy one pack out of curiosity and come back for three. The Banksy artwork is a nice conversation starter — we've seen customers pick a specific design just because it matched their phone case — but the papers themselves are what bring people back. The burn is even, the taste is clean, and the tips are the right stiffness. Not too floppy, not cardboard-thick.

One thing we'd flag: if you're used to thicker papers, the extra thin feel takes a roll or two to adjust to. They stick to damp fingers more easily, so keep your hands dry. Rolling in humid conditions (bathroom, rainy festival) can be trickier. That said, once you've got the knack, these are some of the best unbleached papers we carry at this price.

Complete your setup with a proper grinder — the SLX Non-Stick Grinder keeps your herb fluffy and even, which makes a real difference with extra thin papers. If you prefer cones, check out the G-Rollz Pre-Rolled Cones for the same unbleached quality without the rolling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "unbleached" actually mean for rolling papers?

No chlorine or chemical whitening agents were used during production. The natural brown colour is the paper's original state. This means fewer chemical residues burning alongside your herb, which translates to a cleaner, less harsh taste.

Are G-Rollz papers additive-free?

G-Rollz unbleached papers are chlorine-free and made from natural fibres. They don't contain chalk, dyes, or burn accelerants. The gum line is natural. If you want zero additives in your smoke, unbleached papers like these are the way to go.

What is cellulose fibre in rolling papers?

Cellulose is the plant-based fibre that gives rolling papers their structure. It's derived from wood pulp, hemp, flax, or rice. G-Rollz use natural cellulose fibres — the unbleached variety retains more of the original plant material, which contributes to a slower, more consistent burn.

How many papers and tips come in one G-Rollz pack?

Each pack contains 50 unbleached extra thin rolling papers and 50 matching filter tips. You also get a bamboo poker and the fold-out rolling tray built into the packaging. One pack, zero extras needed.

Can I use these papers if I'm new to rolling?

You can, but expect a short learning curve. Extra thin papers tear more easily than standard-thickness ones. Start with a well-ground, evenly distributed herb and keep your fingers dry. By your third or fourth roll, you'll have the feel for it. The 50-leaf count gives you plenty of practice material.

Why does the pack fold out into a rolling tray?

It gives you a flat, contained surface to roll on — no loose herb falling off the edge of a book or your knee. It's especially handy outdoors or on uneven surfaces. When you're done, fold it back up and it fits in your pocket.

Do extra thin papers burn faster than regular papers?

Not necessarily. Thinner paper means less material combusting, so you actually get a slower, more even burn if the roll is packed well. The unbleached natural fibres in G-Rollz contribute to a consistent burn rate without accelerants.
