Rolling papers
by OCB
OCB Rolling Papers on Roll is a continuous 4-metre strip of ultra-thin, pure flax rolling paper that lets you tear off exactly the length you want — from a standard single-skin to an absurdly long party piece. At 45mm wide, it sits in the sweet spot for hand-rolling, and the whole thing comes wrapped in recycled cardboard that fits neatly in a jacket pocket.

Complete your rolling setup with OCB filter tips for a cleaner draw, or grab a rolling tray to keep your surfaces clean. If you prefer pre-shaped papers, we carry OCB Slim and OCB Virgin booklets as well — good to have a backup when you don't fancy freestyling the length.
Standard booklets give you a fixed paper size — usually king-size slim or single-wide. That works 90% of the time, but the moment you want something shorter for a quick solo smoke or something ridiculously long for a group session, you're stuck tearing or doubling up. The OCB on Roll solves that in the most straightforward way possible: you just tear off what you need.
The flax paper itself is noticeably thin. Hold a sheet up to the light and you can practically read through it. That thinness means less paper taste and a slower, more even burn — the smoke stays cleaner because you're combusting less cellulose per centimetre. We've noticed flax papers tend to hold their shape better than rice papers when you're licking the gum line, too. They don't go floppy the second they get damp, which matters if you're rolling outdoors on a drizzly Amsterdam afternoon.
The honest limitation? There's no gum strip. You'll need to either use a tiny strip from a regular paper as a glue line, or lick-and-stick old-school style with a bit of saliva along the edge. It takes a touch more skill than a pre-gummed sheet. If you've never rolled without a gum line before, expect a learning curve of about three attempts before it clicks.
We've stocked OCB papers since the early days of the shop — they're a French brand that's been making rolling papers since 1918, so over a century of doing one thing well. The "on roll" format is genuinely popular with customers who roll different sizes throughout the day: a short one with morning coffee, a longer one in the evening. One roll replaces roughly 3–4 standard booklets depending on how generously you tear, so the value per paper is solid.
One thing we get asked about is paper safety. According to a 2024 study published in ACS Omega, some commercially available rolling papers were found to contain trace heavy metals, with elemental composition varying significantly between brands. OCB's pure flax papers are unbleached in their Virgin line, though this particular roll uses their classic ultra-thin formula. If paper composition matters to you — and it probably should — flax is one of the cleaner base materials available. It produces less ash than wood-pulp papers and doesn't require the same chemical processing as bleached white sheets.
Compared to the RAW Classic Roll, which uses unbleached hemp paper, the OCB flax roll feels slightly crisper between the fingers. The RAW is a touch more flexible and forgiving for beginners. Both are good — we'd pick the OCB if you value a slow, even burn, and the RAW if you want maximum pliability.
It depends on how long you tear them. At a standard king-size length of roughly 11cm, you'll get about 36 papers from the 4-metre roll. Tear shorter singles and you could stretch it to 50 or more.
No. The continuous roll format doesn't include a pre-applied gum line. You can seal with saliva or borrow a thin gummed strip from a regular booklet. After a few rolls, most people find the saliva method works fine.
Rolling papers are typically made from wood pulp, rice, hemp, or flax. The material affects burn speed, taste, and ash production. Flax (like this OCB roll) burns slowly and evenly with minimal paper flavour — it's one of the thinnest, cleanest-burning options available.
If you're new to rolling, start with a standard gummed booklet — the adhesive strip makes sealing much easier. Move to a roll format once you're comfortable shaping and tucking without a guide edge. The OCB on Roll rewards experienced hands with total control over paper size.
Yes. 45mm is the standard width for most rolling papers and matches king-size slim dimensions. It gives enough paper to wrap around a filter and a comfortable amount of material without excess overlap that would thicken the burn.
Keep it in the recycled cardboard dispenser it comes in and store somewhere dry. Humidity makes thin papers stick together or tear unevenly. A desk drawer or sealed tin works well — avoid back pockets where body heat and sweat can dampen the paper.
You can, but you'll need to pre-tear the paper to the right length for your machine's width. Most hand-crank rollers accept standard king-size lengths of about 11cm. Tear, load, and roll as normal.
