The SLX 2.5 non-stick grinder is a 4-piece pocket-sized herb grinder that uses a proprietary ceramic coating to prevent resin buildup — so it never jams, never sticks, and never needs cleaning. Built from aerospace-grade 7075 T6 aluminium (the same alloy used in aircraft frames and precision machinery), the SLX 2.5 at 50mm diameter fits in your palm or pocket while grinding even the toughest dried herbs to a fine, consistent powder. We've had one behind the counter for years and it still turns like it did on day one.
The SLX 2.5 comes in 6 finishes — all identical in build and performance. This is purely about what looks good to you. The anodised coating is consistent across all colours, so there's no durability difference between Black and Champagne Gold.

Complete your setup: pair the SLX 2.5 with a pocket-sized stash jar to keep your freshly ground herb airtight and odour-free. If you're grinding for a vaporiser, the Mighty+ or a desktop unit like the Volcano will reward a fine, even grind — exactly what the SLX delivers.
Every grinder works on day one. The question is what happens after a month of regular use. We've watched dozens of grinders come through the shop over 25 years, and the failure pattern is always the same: resin builds up on the teeth and threads, the lid seizes, you end up wrestling with it like you're opening a jar of pickles, and eventually the teeth dull or the threads strip. That's not wear and tear — that's poor material choice and no coating.
The SLX 2.5 solves the sticking problem at the source. The proprietary ceramic coating covers every internal and external surface, so trichomes and plant oils can't bond to the metal. We've ground sticky, resinous herbs through ours without a single jam. You literally never need to clean it — not with isopropyl, not with a brush, not at all. The coating doesn't degrade, doesn't flake, and because it contains zero Teflon or PTFE, there's nothing toxic wearing off into your herb.
Then there's the aluminium itself. Most grinders use standard 6061 aluminium — decent, but not exceptional. SLX went with 7075 T6, which is roughly 50% stronger than 6061 in terms of yield strength. It's the same grade used in aircraft wing structures and high-stress mechanical components. The teeth are precision-cut with 4 sharp edges each, designed to shear through dense, fibrous material rather than tearing it. The result is a fluffy, even grind with minimal effort. You can feel the difference the first time you twist the lid — the resistance is smooth, not gritty.
Pick it up and the first thing you notice is the weight — it's solid without being heavy. The 50mm diameter sits naturally between your thumb and fingers. The anodised finish has a slight matte texture that gives you grip without being rough. Twist the lid and there's zero play, zero wobble — the machining tolerances are tight enough that the two halves align perfectly every time but never bind.
The neodymium magnets hold the lid firmly shut. We've tossed ours into a bag, carried it in a jacket pocket, even dropped it on the shop floor — the lid stayed put. No herb escaped, no smell leaked. When you do open it, the magnet releases cleanly without that annoying suction-pop you get with over-magnetised lids.
The steel pollen screen sits in the third section without threads, so you can lift it straight out for inspection or a quick tap. The mesh is fine enough that only actual kief passes through — you're not losing ground material into the bottom chamber. Over weeks of use, you'll build up a nice collection in the kief catcher without any waste from oversized screen holes.
One honest limitation: the 50mm size is genuinely pocket-friendly, but if you're grinding large quantities for a session with mates, you'll need to load it 2-3 times. For solo use or a couple of bowls, it's spot on. If you regularly grind for groups, the larger SLX 2.5 62mm version gives you more capacity with the same build quality.
The 7075 T6 aluminium alloy used in the SLX 2.5 has a tensile strength of around 572 MPa — for context, standard 6061 aluminium sits at roughly 310 MPa. This isn't marketing fluff; 7075 is genuinely the alloy of choice for structural aerospace applications where failure isn't an option. The "T6" designation means it's been solution heat-treated and artificially aged for maximum hardness. The practical result: the teeth won't dull, the threads won't strip, and the body won't dent from normal use or the occasional drop.
The ceramic coating is where SLX really separates itself from the pack. Most "non-stick" grinders either use a thin anodised layer that wears off within months, or they use PTFE-based coatings (Teflon by another name). SLX's proprietary ceramic is inert, food-safe, and rated for temperatures well beyond anything you'd encounter during grinding. It bonds to the aluminium at a molecular level rather than sitting on top as a separate layer, so it won't chip or peel. After 2+ years of regular use in the shop, ours shows zero coating degradation.
In our experience, genuinely no. The ceramic coating prevents resin from bonding to any surface. After over two years of regular use, ours still twists smoothly with zero buildup on the teeth or threads. A dry wipe is the most you'll ever do.
The coating is 100% non-toxic and contains zero Teflon, PTFE, or other fluoropolymers. It's an inert ceramic that's food-safe and doesn't degrade or release particles during normal use.
Same materials, same coating, same 4-piece design. The 62mm version holds roughly 40-50% more herb per load, making it better for group sessions. The 50mm is genuinely pocket-sized and better for personal use on the go.
Standard grinders use 6061 aluminium with no coating. They work fine initially but jam within weeks as resin accumulates. The SLX uses stronger 7075 T6 aluminium with a permanent ceramic coating — it won't stick, won't strip, and won't dull. The price difference pays for itself when you're not replacing grinders every year.
Yes. The 4-edge precision teeth handle any dried botanical — from dense, fibrous herbs to delicate leaf material. The fine grind is especially good for vaporiser use where consistency matters.
Absolutely. Rare earth neodymium magnets are significantly stronger than standard ferrite magnets. We've carried ours loose in bags, coat pockets, and festival pouches without it ever popping open. Your herb stays sealed with no odour escaping.
The 7075 T6 aluminium teeth with 4 precision-cut edges are designed to stay sharp indefinitely under normal use. This alloy has a tensile strength of around 572 MPa — significantly harder than standard grinder aluminium. We haven't seen any dulling on ours after years of use.
