CRAFTY Screen Set — Original Replacement Screens for Your CRAFTY Vaporizer

The CRAFTY Screen Set is a pack of 6 original metal screens designed to keep your Storz & Bickel CRAFTY vaporizer pulling clean and tasting right. Each screen measures 15mm in diameter and slots straight into the cooling unit without any fiddling. If your draws are getting tight or you're tasting yesterday's session more than today's herbs, these are the fix.

6 original screens per set 4 coarse + 2 regular mesh 15mm diameter each Genuine Storz & Bickel part SKU: VS0156

What's in the CRAFTY Screen Set

You get two types of screen in this set, and they're not interchangeable — each one sits in a specific position inside the cooling unit. Here's the breakdown:

Screen Type Quantity Mesh Position
Upper screen 4 Coarse Top of the cooling unit
Lower screen 2 Regular (fine) Bottom of the cooling unit

The coarse mesh on the upper screens allows good airflow while catching larger particles. The regular mesh on the lower screens does the finer filtering. Both are 15mm in diameter — the exact fit for the CRAFTY's cooling unit. No trimming, no bending, no improvising.

Complete your CRAFTY maintenance kit with the Storz & Bickel Dosing Capsule Set — 40 capsules that each hold around 0.15–0.2g of ground herb, keeping your oven cleaner for longer and making screen swaps less frequent. Also worth grabbing: a set of replacement seal rings to keep the cooling unit airtight while you're at it.

Why Your CRAFTY Screens Need Replacing

Here's the thing nobody tells you when you buy a portable vaporizer: the screens are a wear item. They're not decorative. They're doing real work every single session, filtering resin and particulate out of your vapour path. Over time — and we're talking weeks, not months, if you're a daily user — that mesh clogs up with a sticky film of residue that isopropyl alcohol can only do so much about.

A clogged screen does two things, both bad. First, it restricts airflow. You end up pulling harder, which heats the herb unevenly and gives you that thin, unsatisfying draw. Second, it traps flavour compounds from old sessions. You know that stale, slightly burnt taste that creeps in even with fresh herb? That's your screens telling you they're done. We've had customers bring their CRAFTY into the shop convinced something was wrong with the heater — nine times out of ten, it was a screen swap that fixed it.

The honest limitation here: these screens won't last forever no matter how well you clean them. The mesh structure degrades with repeated soaking in isopropyl, and the coarse screens in particular lose their shape after a few deep cleans. At this price point, treat them as consumables. Buy two sets if you vape daily — you'll rotate through them and always have a fresh set ready while the others soak.

How to Replace Your CRAFTY Screens

  1. Let your CRAFTY cool down completely. Trying to swap screens on a warm unit means sticky resin and burnt fingers.
  2. Remove the cooling unit from the top of the vaporizer by twisting it counter-clockwise and lifting it off.
  3. Separate the cooling unit into its two halves. The old screens sit inside — the lower screen (regular mesh) at the bottom, the upper screen (coarse mesh) at the top.
  4. Pop out the old screens. If they're really gunked up, a quick soak in isopropyl alcohol for 10 minutes loosens the resin enough to nudge them out with a toothpick or the included brush tool.
  5. Drop in the new lower screen (regular mesh) first, making sure it sits flat with no edges curling up. Then place the new upper screen (coarse mesh) on top.
  6. Reassemble the cooling unit, click it back onto the CRAFTY, and take a dry draw to check airflow before loading your herb.
  7. Give your old screens a final isopropyl soak if you want to keep them as backups — but honestly, once they've lost their shape, bin them.

The whole swap takes under 2 minutes. If you're doing it for the first time, the trickiest bit is getting the lower screen to sit perfectly flat. Use the edge of a fingernail to press it down evenly around the rim.

From Our Counter: When to Swap and How to Tell

We get asked "how often should I change my CRAFTY screens?" at least once a week. There's no magic number of sessions — it depends on how finely you grind your herb, how often you clean the cooling unit, and whether you use dosing capsules (which reduce direct contact with the screens significantly).

The best test is the draw itself. Load a fresh bowl, take a slow pull. If you feel noticeable resistance compared to when the unit was new, or if the flavour tastes flat and recycled even with fresh herb, your screens are overdue. Visually, a spent screen looks dark and the mesh holes are partially or fully blocked even after cleaning. A fresh screen has visible, open mesh and feels slightly rough to the touch — that texture is the clean metal surface before resin coats it.

One more thing: the CRAFTY's cooling unit has a specific screen orientation. The coarse mesh goes on top because it handles the initial filtration of larger particles. If you accidentally swap the positions — putting the fine mesh on top — you'll notice restricted airflow almost immediately. It still works, but you're making the fine screen do double duty and it'll clog faster. Keep coarse on top, regular on the bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these CRAFTY screens fit the Mighty vaporizer too?

The screens are 15mm in diameter and designed for the CRAFTY's cooling unit. The Mighty uses its own screen set with different dimensions. Grab the dedicated Mighty screen set if that's your unit — don't try to force a fit.

How many sessions do CRAFTY replacement screens typically last?

Daily users generally get 2–4 weeks out of a set before airflow drops noticeably. Using dosing capsules extends screen life significantly because less herb residue contacts the mesh directly. Without capsules, expect to swap more often.

Can I clean and reuse these screens instead of replacing them?

Yes, soaking in isopropyl alcohol (90%+) for 20–30 minutes removes most resin buildup. But the mesh loses its structure after several deep cleans — the coarse screens especially start to warp. Once they don't sit flat anymore, swap them out.

What's the difference between the coarse and regular mesh screens?

The 4 coarse mesh screens sit in the upper position and catch larger herb particles. The 2 regular (finer) mesh screens go in the lower position for finer filtration. They work as a two-stage system — don't mix up the positions.

Are these genuine Storz & Bickel screens or third-party?

These are original Storz & Bickel screens — same spec as the ones that came with your CRAFTY out of the box. Third-party screens exist, but the mesh gauge and diameter aren't always exact, which causes fit issues in the cooling unit. We stock the originals for that reason.

Will replacing screens actually improve vapour flavour?

Noticeably, yes. Old screens trap residue from previous sessions that re-heats and taints fresh herb. A clean screen lets you taste the actual terpene profile of what you've loaded. It's the single cheapest maintenance step with the biggest flavour payoff.
