The PAX 3 Concentrate Insert is a stainless steel chamber that drops into your PAX 3 or PAX 2 oven, letting you vape solid and waxy concentrates instead of dry herb. One snap and your dual-use vaporiser is ready for a completely different session — no second device, no fuss, no sticky fingers trying to improvise with foil.

Already running low on maintenance supplies? The PAX Cleaning Kit and PAX Replacement Screens keep your insert and oven performing at their best. If you're using your PAX for herb sessions too, a decent three-chamber grinder makes loading quicker and more consistent.
Without this insert, your PAX 3 or PAX 2 is a dry herb vaporiser — full stop. The standard oven is too large and too open for concentrates. Drop a dab of wax straight into that full-size chamber and you'll get uneven heating, wasted material, and a cleanup job that'll have you reaching for isopropyl alcohol and a lot of patience.
The concentrate insert solves this by creating a smaller, contained chamber inside the oven. Your wax or solid concentrate sits in a defined space, heats evenly at 215°C / 420°F, and produces proper vapour instead of half-melting into the screen. We've had customers come in saying they thought their PAX "didn't work with concentrates" — turns out they just didn't have this insert. It's the difference between a proper session and a messy experiment.
One honest note: this insert is designed for solid and waxy concentrates only. Very runny oils or e-liquids aren't a good match — they'll leak through the chamber and gunk up your oven. If you're working with thicker waxes, shatters, or crumbles, you're sorted. For liquid concentrates, you'd want a device built specifically for that purpose, like the PAX ERA.
Concentrate residue builds up faster than dry herb ash. After every 2–3 sessions, pop the insert out and soak it in isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) for 10–15 minutes. Use a cotton bud to clear any remaining residue from the inside walls and the edges where the insert meets the oven. Dry completely before reinserting.
Neglect cleaning and you'll notice the draw tightening up, flavour going stale, and vapour production dropping. The insert itself is tough — stainless steel handles repeated cleaning without degrading — but the oven screens underneath can get clogged if residue drips past the chamber. Swap screens regularly and your PAX will keep performing like it did on day one.
| Maintenance task | Frequency |
|---|---|
| Wipe insert with isopropyl-soaked cotton bud | Every 2–3 sessions |
| Full soak in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol | Weekly (with regular use) |
| Check and replace oven screen | Monthly or when airflow drops |
| Clean oven walls and vapour path | Every 1–2 weeks |
We get asked this in the shop more than you'd think: "Can't I just put a bit of wax in the regular oven?" Technically, nothing stops you. Practically, it's a bad idea. The standard PAX oven measures roughly 22mm across — that's a lot of empty space around a tiny dab of concentrate. Heat distribution is uneven, your wax melts into the screen instead of vaporising, and you end up scrubbing hardened residue out of every crevice.
The concentrate insert reduces the chamber volume significantly, concentrating (pun intended) the heat exactly where your material sits. The result: better vapour, less waste, and a device that's actually pleasant to clean afterwards. For the price of this accessory, it's a no-brainer compared to replacing gunked-up screens every week.
Yes. The insert is compatible with both the PAX 3 and PAX 2. The oven dimensions are identical across both models, so it snaps in the same way. You won't get the PAX 3's faster heat-up time on a PAX 2, but the insert itself functions identically.
A small pea-sized amount — roughly 0.1g. This leaves enough room for proper airflow and produces plenty of vapour. Overpacking restricts the draw and wastes material because the centre won't heat evenly.
The highest setting: 215°C / 420°F. Concentrates require significantly more heat than dry herb to vaporise effectively. Lower settings will leave material unvaporised and produce weak, unsatisfying draws.
No. The insert is designed for solid and waxy concentrates — think crumbles, shatters, and thicker waxes. Runny oils or e-liquids will leak through the chamber and into the oven, causing a mess and potentially damaging the device.
Soak it in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for 10–15 minutes, then wipe clean with a cotton bud. Do this every 2–3 sessions. Cleaning while the insert is still slightly warm makes residue removal much easier — don't wait until it's fully hardened and cold.
Yes. This is an official PAX Labs concentrate insert, not a third-party knock-off. It's manufactured to the same tolerances as the original components that ship with the PAX 3 Complete Kit.
The PAX Plus (which replaced the PAX 3) uses a different oven design. This specific insert is made for the PAX 3 and PAX 2. Check PAX Labs' compatibility notes for PAX Plus concentrate accessories — they're not interchangeable.
