The Volcano Balloon With Adapter is a replacement balloon and mouthpiece assembly designed for Storz & Bickel's Volcano vaporizer range. It fits the Volcano Classic, Volcano Hybrid, Volcano Digit, and any unit running the Easy Valve system. When your current balloon starts looking cloudy, tastes stale, or simply won't hold vapour like it used to, this is the part you need — nothing more, nothing less.
A worn-out balloon is the single most common reason a Volcano session goes from brilliant to underwhelming. After 50–100 fills, the food-grade plastic starts to retain residue. You'll notice it first as a slightly off taste — a staleness that sits at the back of your throat. Then the balloon loses elasticity, doesn't inflate fully, and you're left chasing vapour instead of enjoying it. We've had customers in the shop convinced their heating element was dying when the real culprit was a balloon that should've been swapped out weeks ago.
Storz & Bickel designed the Easy Valve system so you wouldn't need tools, glue, or a YouTube tutorial to do basic maintenance. This replacement balloon comes pre-attached to its adapter — pull the old one off, click the new one on, and you're back in business in under 30 seconds. The adapter clicks into the Easy Valve filling chamber with a firm, airtight seal. No wobble, no leaks, no fiddling.
One honest note: the balloon material itself is thin by design. That's intentional — thinner plastic means less resistance when you draw, so vapour flows freely. But it also means you shouldn't expect it to last forever. Treat it as a consumable, like a coffee filter. Stock a spare so you're never caught out mid-session.

Complete your Volcano maintenance kit: pick up the Easy Valve Filling Chamber if yours is showing wear, or grab the Storz & Bickel Cleaning Brush Set and some isopropyl alcohol to keep the whole unit in top shape between balloon swaps. If you're running through balloons quickly, the Volcano Balloon Tube (3m roll) lets you cut custom lengths and get more replacements out of a single purchase.
Here's what we see behind the counter at least once a week: someone walks in, slightly frustrated, saying their Volcano "doesn't hit like it used to." Nine times out of ten, the heating element is fine, the temperature dial is set correctly, and the filling chamber is reasonably clean. The balloon, though — it's been on there for months, it's gone from transparent to a murky amber, and it smells like the inside of a pub ashtray from 2004.
Residue builds up on the inner surface with every fill. That residue doesn't just look grim — it actively interferes with flavour. Terpenes, the aromatic compounds responsible for the taste and scent of your botanicals, get masked by stale buildup. You end up tasting last month's session instead of what's in the chamber right now. A fresh balloon brings back the full flavour profile immediately. The difference is genuinely noticeable from the very first draw.
There's also a practical safety angle. According to research published in the journal Medicinal Cannabis: In Vitro Validation of Vaporizers, the Volcano Medic demonstrated efficient delivery of active compounds through its balloon system, with data supporting the efficacy of pulmonary absorption via the balloon method (PMC4718604). That efficiency depends on a clean, properly sealed balloon. A degraded balloon with micro-tears or a loose adapter seal means you're losing vapour to the room instead of inhaling it — wasteful and annoying.
The Storz & Bickel dosing capsules are worth mentioning here. They sit inside the filling chamber and keep ground material contained, which means significantly less residue ends up on the balloon's inner surface. We've seen customers double the lifespan of their balloons just by switching to capsules. Less cleaning, less waste, more consistent flavour from fill to fill.
Temperature matters too. Running your Volcano at the upper end of its range — above 210°C — produces denser vapour with more visible residue. That's not necessarily bad, but it does mean your balloon will cloud up faster. If you typically vape at lower temperatures (175–190°C), expect your balloon to stay clearer for longer. According to a study on cannabinoid disposition following Volcano vaporisation, controlled administration at consistent temperatures yielded reliable delivery profiles — so pick a temperature and stick with it rather than constantly adjusting.
One more thing from the shop floor: don't leave a filled balloon sitting for more than a few minutes. Vapour condenses on the plastic as it cools, leaving a film that's harder to clean than fresh residue. Fill it, use it, done.
Every 50–100 sessions, or sooner if you notice a stale taste or the balloon looks visibly discoloured. If you use Storz & Bickel dosing capsules, you can push closer to the 100-session mark since less residue contacts the plastic directly.
Yes. It's compatible with the Volcano Classic, Volcano Hybrid, and Volcano Digit — any model that uses the Easy Valve system. If your Volcano came with an Easy Valve starter set, this is the exact same balloon format.
You can rinse it with warm water to extend its life slightly, but the thin plastic degrades with use regardless. Scrubbing or using solvents weakens the material and can introduce micro-tears that leak vapour. Replacement is the better option once taste drops off.
The adapter comes pre-attached to the balloon. It's a single unit — no separate parts to assemble. Pull it out of the box and click it onto your filling chamber.
This product is a single ready-to-use balloon with adapter already fitted. The Balloon Tube is a 3-metre roll of raw balloon material that you cut to your preferred length and attach to a separate adapter. The tube roll gives you more balloons per purchase but requires a bit more hands-on setup each time.
The standard balloon size holds roughly 8 litres of vapour when fully inflated. A longer balloon (cut from a tube roll) holds more but takes longer to fill and the vapour at the far end cools faster. For most people, the standard size hits the sweet spot between volume and freshness.
Brand new food-grade plastic can carry a faint manufacturing scent. Run one fill cycle at around 130°C without any material in the chamber, then discard that air. The smell disappears after the first use.
